CoA Annual Meeting 2024

Annual Meeting of Coalition of the Americas
The use of data and management to improve the purchase
of treatment for haemophilia in the Americas.
With the participation of 10 invited countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
In the recent years, the CoA has been working on training actions directed to leaders of NMOs, volunteers, community, and health staff, in order to empower them and improve their advocacy activities. We have used many different strategies: social media information sharing, synchronic and asynchronous learning, interviews, and webinars, among others. However, the relevant topics for the region have changed. Nowadays, there is a focus on understanding health technology assessment, pharmaco-economy and how agencies for the safety of medicinal products work. These topics are currently fundamental to make better informed decisions, generate debate and analyse the current needs of our communities.
In order to continue to strengthen the work of the NMOs, we plan to have two previous workshops, one on site, before the WFH World Congress in Madrid, 2024 and a virtual one consisting on 4 sessions.
Finally, by the end of the year, we will hold an Annual Workshop, for which we have selected a specific group of countries, which are generally advanced on the topics to be treated. We will invite two leaders per NMO (a younger one) and a stakeholder related to hemophilia from each country.
Attendees: NMO leaders, world leaders of the WFH, EHC, PROBE, PAHO, COMISCA as well as stakeholders in each country in terms of healthcare and haemophilia.
Content for the agenda of the Summit:
- Knowledge transfer in the ONMs: this axis will be to help the ONMs to generate bridges between adult and youth leaders to begin a process of delegation and transfer of command.
- Pharmaco-economic analysis of hemophilia medications: we want to address the issue of cost analysis and how decision makers should make new models for their purchases, leaving behind the simple analysis of the current cost.
- Registry management: we consider that the proper use of the patient registry is a central tool and that is why we want to show you success stories of how other countries have it, for example the case of Colombia. At this point it is important to know that the decision makers of the Ministries of Health will be there, which is why it is important that they see these cases.
This Workshop will also have various previous actions that will deal with the different most important thematic axes that will be analyzed and debated in person, which is why a previous schedule has been organized with different educational and training actions:
- Knowledge Transfer and legacy in the ONMs Process of knowledge and legacy transfer between current leaders and generations of young volunteers. Includes subsequent follow-up. – 4 classes – virtual – May 2024
- Pharmaco-economic analysis of hemophilia medication Designed for leaders of the ONM – 4 clases – virtual – August 2024
