Finance Coordinator
Member of the Women’s Committee
Mexico

Mother of a young adult with hemophilia, and two female carriers. Public Accountant by profession. Co-founder of As. Potosina de Hemophilia A.C. in 1995 for which I have been a volunteer for almost 30 years, in my native San Luis Potosí, Mexico, for which I am currently an Advisor. In the Hemophilia Federation of the Mexican Republic I participated, occupying different positions on the board of directors from 2006 to 2018, always with the objective of improving the treatment conditions of men and women with hemorrhagic coagulopathies.

My first contact with coagulation disorders was when my son was born, diagnosed with moderate hemophilia A, however, inside the house, we women, also experienced the symptoms of coagulation disorders thinking that they were normal, since at that time The doctors told us that we were only carriers, since there were no women with hemophilia, so as a family, we have had to live through all the changes that have occurred in terms of advances in diagnosis and treatments.

Participating in the CoA Women’s Committee is an opportunity to collaborate to eradicate the lack of treatment in women who have lived with different fears and guilt in addition to the symptoms of their own ignored conditions in the Americas. Those of us who experienced it in the past understand very well the needs and concerns of women with little or no access to treatment for their bleeding disorder; From the Coalition of the Americas we want women to have access to adequate diagnosis, sufficient treatment and fair care. The goal now is for more young women on the continent to educate themselves and commit to taking the reins of this noble cause, so that no person with bleeding disorders lives without adequate treatment.
